Happy New Year folks. 2001 has been quite a year and I for one look forward to 2002. As I think back over this eventful year, I thought I'd share my memories from this year and wishes for the new year.[p]things I remember most about 2001.[p]10. Finding out how easy it is to dry-age ordinary beef from the supermarket. I look forward to saving serious money in 2002 on steaks and roasts.
09. Finding out that Mrs. Dog's makes a good mustard and jerk marinade. I finally tried her disappearing mustard and it was great. I also tried the jerk marindade and the first coupla times I thought it was it way too mild. Then I doubled the amount (about a quarter of a jar for a 3 and -half pound fryer) and found jerk heaven.
08. Trying cherry chunks for the first time. This is my new best flavor secret. Gives a "bright" flavor to pork and beef.
07. Using the BGE to lose weight. After I added more fish and chicken to my mix of cooks - and started hitting the gym a bit more - I lost 15 pounds. I look forward to losing more in the New Year.
06. Hoping that next year Char Woody and other folks find their way back to the forum. Speakng of missing folks, anyone heard from Cornfed lately? You'd think He want to talk about the Jets at least.
05. Getting an EZ Probe thermometer like the one my Guru and mentor KennyG uses.
04. Having a good time at Eggfest 2001 and hoping Da Mayor sees his way to doing it again. Anyone for volleyball?
03. The guy from Belgium who came on the forum looking for green eggs - literally. Anybody remember that guy?
02. Those BGE carts and photos - gotta try that in 2002.
01. Visiting the forum on 9/11. Quite a day, quite a place to be on that day. Here's to the folks we lost that day.
