Cooking Surface / Extra grill add on accesory question

Unknown
edited November -1 in EggHead Forum
Do you find the grill surface on the large BGE to be enough for most things that you Cook?[p]I am assuming if the extra grate is used that you have to rotate the food between the bottom and top grate.? If so, is the top grate easy to remove to do this? [p]

  • newby,
The main grid is plenty big enough for any high temp grilling. The upper grid is used more for low and slow cooks and the meats should not have to be rotated from grid to grid, the convection air keeps things fairly even if you are using any heat deflection such as a drip pan. I tie a foil drip pan beneath the main grid with thin wire when I smoke directly on the main grid.
