Used or demo BGEs

I'm convinced that a BGE is the way to go for a beginner BBQ cook. I know the prices are fair given the quality but I'm hoping there are a few eggers who have moved up to a large and might want to sell their medium (or an older large). Any ideas for sources for used or demo BGEs?[p]THanks

DaveG, [p]From what I have seen here over the past few years, people tend to just buy more BGEs instead of "trading up". Once, early in my marriage, my husband explained that "a guy's gotta have new stuff". He bought a large BGE & I got it.... Cooking outdoors becomes a passion; an obsession or addiction almost. [p]I even bought my own tiny BGE upon which I experimented and learned and experimented and learned for about a month one winter when my husband was out of town "working" as a starter for the women's downhill events at the World Cup Championships at Vail. The original forum members were incredibly patient & generous with their time and sage advice about everything from filet mignon to dealing with frozen pipes.[p]Buy a Big Green Egg; the biggest you can afford. Ask away here on the forum & soon you, too, will feel like family.[p]Happy New Year! J Appledog

    DaveG,
Wish I could find a 'used' Egg somewhere, problem is, one guy was selling his (he was moving overseas and couldn't take it with him) and he was asking just a few dollars less than what I would have spent on a new one...his did have some toys. I 'thought' too long about it and someone else came a long and grabbed it. Shame on me. My conclusion here is pretty simple, it's not like you can tell the difference between a new Egg and a used one so next time one rolls up used I'm not going to think about it I'm going to grab it! Go buy a new one and don't wait for the rare used one to show up. I'm planning on getting a new small BGE as soon as I can.

    Sundown,
I don't know if you're close to the Alanta store but there was a post the other day that the small is on sale there for $159 through Dec. Wish I was in the area.

DaveG, as New Bob stated, if you're close to Atlanta, the BGE store sometimes has factory "blems" and sometimes when people take advantage of their 60-day "upgrade" offer they will have a used one. The price is about 2/3 to 44/5 of what a new one sells for. A little bit cheaper but now enough to sit on the sidelines whiles others are cooking around you. My advice is to get whatever you can (mini, small, medium) and then worry about getting that next one sometime in the future. As Mrs. Appledog states, most people never trade them in, they just buy more. Even if you waited to buy a large later, you would eventually want a small as well. You might as well get it now.
