I'm looking into a mini-egg to keep from having to fire up the large all the time. How much can I cook on one: say, a whole chicken, burgers, steaks???
Thanks!

• Shelby,[p] Go for the small if you want to complement the large. I looked at the mini but decided it was just too small.[p]MikeO

Shelby,
I agree with Mike O. I also have a small to compliment my large..the mini just seemed to small...although it would be much more portable..but I love my small[p]Wess

Shelby,
As Mike suggested, the small is much more functional as a second cooker. More fuel space. More cooking space...both horizontally and vertically. [p]The mini is great if you are looking for extreme portability, but otherwise, you will probably find in confining. And the small is suprisingly portable too.[p]Is this a Christmas present??

Shelby,[p]I went camping this last weekend, and seriously considered getting a mini for that trip. Instead I did a nice boston butt the weekend before and brought that with some of JJ's BBQ sauce, but the desire still pleagues me. I want a mini![p]From those who have one, what is the capacity: 1 whole chicken? 2 breasts? 2-6 burgers? 1-2 steaks? I would like to know. How many campers will a mini feed?[p]Thanks in advance,[p]--sdb

Shelby,
This is an old picture, but it will give you some idea as to just how much you can cook on the mini. As you can see, i use mine when i go ice fishing. Best buy i made.[p]Earl

• Shelby,
I bought a Mini during the panic of about 8 months ago, when it was heard in these parts, that they were going out of production. Frankly, I too, would prefer the small. The mini is limited to maybe, 3-4 burgers, 3-4 chicken breasts (dependent on size)---and I'm sure it would be tough to cram any sized whole chicken in there. Don't think it lends itself well to any kind of indirect. But....it's damn portable, and you can do a set of split pork tenderloins, and other stuff too. Someone else has posted pictures of a double stack grid with a bunch of chicken wings on there...so it can work. Best features: very portable, and great for a single big steak or a small burger cook for 3-4 max.

Shelby,[p]When I grill on the mini I'll fit:[p]» burgers (3)
» pork chops (3 or 4)
» chicken breasts (3 or 4)
» hot dogs (7)
» rib eyes (2)
» plus roast enough peanuts to complement a fine brew![p]It's quite convenient to fire up the little guy and make something quickly. I also own a large and a small. They all are quite active in feeding the family.[p]Puj

Shelby,
2 burgers and 3 or 4 sausages. Also 3 or 4
pork chops. But the real reason for owning a
mini goes beyond the capacity issue. The mini
is just way too cool not to have.

Shelby,[p]Our very own YB is the master of high capacity mini cooking. These are his pics. I have also seen RhumAndJerk do a rack of pork spares by rolling them up first and securing with wooden skewers.[p]K~G

Shelby, maybe I just cram more on but here's a sampling of what I have cooked on my mini
- 4 hamburgers
- 6 bratwurst
- a 2 lb vension roast INDIRECT
- a 2 lb pork tenderloin INDIRECT (and curled around)
- a small chicken (4-5 lbs)[p]But more importantly , it cooks 2 hamburgers or two bratwurst with little effort[p]I bought a second grill and place a firebrick with a tin pan on top and the second grill on top of the pan for my indirects.
