Seasoning the Egg

One more thing...
The guy at the store told me the Egg needs to be seasoned. How can the egg get seasoned if I use a platesetter (and drip pan) to cook? Is this really important?

  • TheNotoriousROB,
    there is nothing to season. . .load it up. .. light it up. .. fill it up . .. . eat it up. .. .

  • mad max beyond eggdome,

    TheNotoriousROB,
    i usually just season the meat :>}
    call him back ask him if you season it with a rub or a sauce?
    only thing i ever heard was to do your first few cooks at 350 [for the gasket] before you do a 700 degree cook[p]a few weeks back someone said you have to initiate the egg by running around it counter clockwise naked with a beer and howling at the moon then pour beer on the egg and your head good luck

  • bill,
    He said the "seasoning" of the egg would happen from drippings from the meat you are cooking. It will get on the sides or the grill and give your food more flavor over time.[p]It looks like it doesn't matter that much, so mine will eventually season itself over the long run.
    Thanks!
