Request for the Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Shrimp with Crabmeat Recipe

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
Hi, I am a "newbie" to the egg. We actually had it for almost three years before we set it up -- I know, I know... [p]Anway, we started using it early this Spring and LOVE it. I was watching the video you get with it and saw someone cooking Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Shrimp with Crabmeat. I asked Customer service if they had the recipe. he said he remembers it but doesn't have it anymore and he suggusted that I ask here. So, if anyone has that recipe and would be willing to share it with me, I would appreciate it. [p]Thank you very much,
"Newbie" Kay

  • Kay,
Welcome to the "CULT". Seems the original recipe was never, except on the BGE video. This was in the archives. Enjoy.[p]Shrimp, Stuffed, Crab, Bacon Wrapped, Theo & Rita

    Procedure:
    1 Angie2B,
2 I looked for it too and could not find it so we developed our own and I have to say it is a favorite. Take several Jumbo Shrimp (readily available in this area anyway), devein them and butterfly them. Saute some fresh crab meat in a skillet with olive oil, salt, pepper, (black and red), parsley, and a little lemon. Place the crabmeat in the shrimp and lay on a peice of bacon at the very end of the bacon. Carefully roll up the bacon and fold it over so the crabmeat will stay in. I like to then pour italian dressing over the shrimp for at least a couple of hours. For best results, go to Lowes and get their fish basket that locks the food in place and place the sprimp in and close tightly. Get egg up to about 500 degrees and sear the bacon for a couple of minutes on each side then shut down until done...usually about 20 minutes or so. The shrimp does not dry out since it is wrapped in bacon. There may be a better way to do this but this works for me.
    3 Good luck with it.

  • Kay,
Here is one that has worked for me and is really easy, the shrimp isn't wrapped in bacon but rather the bacon is mixed in with the stuffing. Either way it is really tasty
    Anyway here you go
Mix crabmeat (1/2 cup) cream cheese (1/2 cup) bacon and bread crumbs (1/4) cup. Squeeze in some lemon and some Dizzy Dust.
Use some Jumbo shrimp (the bigger the better) Devien and cut a pocket into them, leave the tails on
scoop in stuffing and place them on a soaked cedar board.
cook for 15 to 20 minutes at 350
these really are awesome I am getting hungry just thinking about them.

by the way steaks are optional

Kay, here is the best recreation I have found:
Theo and Rita Bacon Wrapped, Crab Stuffed, Shrimp

Theo and Rita Riddle, Douglasville, Ga., cooked this recipe at the 1999 EGGtoberfest. It was called Savannah Style Shrimp. Several attempts have been made to get that recipe - even asking folks who were standing there next to them. Conclusion reached is they have never been posters here on the forum and they seem to have vanished before the VCR tape was edited! I looked for it too and could not find it so we developed our own and I have to say it is a favorite.
    [p]Ingredients:
    4 Jumbo Shrimp
    1/4 cup fresh crab meat
    1 tsp olive oil
1/4 tsp pepper (black and red)
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp parsley
    1/4 lemon juiced
    4 slices bacon

    Directions:
1 Take the shrimp. devein them and butterfly them.
2 Saute the fresh crab meat in a skillet with olive oil, salt, pepper, (black and red), parsley, and a little lemon.
3 Place a spoonful of the crabmeat in the shrimp and lay on a piece of bacon at the very end of the bacon.
4 Carefully roll up the bacon and fold it over so the crabmeat will stay in.
5 I like to then pour Italian dressing over the shrimp for at least a couple of hours.
6 Get egg up to about 500 degrees and sear the bacon for a couple of minutes on each side then shut down until done...usually about 20 minutes or so.
7 For best results, go to Lowes and get their fish basket that locks the food in place and place the shrimp in and close tightly. The shrimp does not dry out since it is wrapped in bacon. There may be a better way to do this but this works for me.
    8 Good luck with it.
