Though not necessarily an Egg questions, does anyone have a GOOD chili receipe? I would like 2 actually, one for ground beef and one with whole (diced) beef. A quick response is requested cause I want to go to the grocery store at lunch and get what I need!

  • Brian,
Take a look at GFW's web site. He has an Egg Chile recipe. I haven't tried it but others have said it is very good.

    Brian,
Funny you should bring up the subject, I was getting ready to post this recipe. It takes a while to make and has a fair number of ingredients but it is the best chili that I have ever made. I researched first place chili cook off recipes (winners for the last ten years in several cook offs) and added the ingredients that I like to have in chili that you won't win a cook off whith, such as chili beans, tomatoes and real onions. The meat I'm sure can be modified to use ground beef and or ground pork.[p]Here's the recipe: Makes LOTS[p]2 1/2 lb Pork (like boston butt) cut into 1/2" cubes
2 lb Beef stew meat cut into 1/4" cubes
3 slices bacon cut into 1/2" long pieces
    1 Large onion chopped
    4 cloves garlic - minced
1 Large can stewed tomatoes + 1 small can stewed tomatoes
    1 teaspoon oregano
    4 Tablespoons Chili powder
    2 Tablespoons hungarian papreka
    1 1/2 teaspoons cumin
    1 Tablespoon black pepper
    1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper - adjust for the amount of hotness you like. This recipe makes 1 alarm chili (hot but not too hot).
1 can Beef broth (approx 12 ounce)
1 can chicken broth (approx 12 ounce)
6 cans American Lager beer (Bud, Miller, etc) 1 to go in the chili, 5 to drink while making it and/or eating it.
6 Tein Tsin dried chili peppers (optional)[p]- Cook bacon to crisp in cast iron skillet over a medium hot fire in the BGE. Set bacon aside in slow cooker.
    - Brown pork and beer in batches in the bacon fat in the skillet in the BGE. Add to bacon in slow cooker (Crock pot).
    - Cook onions and garlic until transparent in the cast iron skillet over the BGE. Add to the meat in the slow cooker.
    - Add the other ingredients to slow cooker and mix well.[p]Now comes the hard part. Allow to slow cook for a minimum of 12 hours (24 is better). Then cool and refridgerate overnight. Remove fat from the top of the chili and discard. Reheat the chili and enjoy.[p]Mr Beer[p]P.S. Don't forget to drink the beers.[p]

Forgot about the chili beans.[p]2 small cans of Bush's chili hot beans added near the end of the cook in the slow cooker (or dutch oven in BGE).

GFW's chili recipe is GREAT. I have made it several times and really like it. Check it out. It is posted by GFW in this message thread.
