Since this is a great place to share...
I used to visit a butcher shop in the San Jose/Campbell area named "Ernie the Butcher" for some great steaks... and great seasoning. He would pre-season and vacuum seal the steaks. I recently tried a simple rub of equal parts of:
Kosher salt
Black pepper
Montreal Steak seasoning
Garlic salt
(actually a little less of the Garlic salt and Black pepper)
and the results are about as close to Ernie's steaks as I've ever tasted. I've been using the rub on tri-tips lately and the family simply can't get enough :)
