Rick: With this being your first go around, why not pick a recipe off the Forum here or over on the Naked Whiz's site? It gives you an idea where to start from when cooking on an Egg.

Rick Lucier,[p]Congrats... their 'cookbook' is actually a little section in the owners manual (don't forget to complete the last page!)[p]Read the section about cooking low and slow for the first x cookings... or, at least avoiding high temps.[p]Bookmark and read:

Rick,
Don't forget to burp your egg to avoid backdrafts. You may not have this issue but my first experience with this was in the 300-400 range and low draft settings.

Rick Lucier,[p]Congrats on the new BGE. You'll love it.

Rick Lucier,
dont use the book to learn about building the fire, go to one of the sites below to do it correctly.
-
Rick Lucier,[p]Congratulations. [p]Watch the video and cook something simple, dogs, burgers, chicken legs, thighs, wings, steak. [p]Don't let your temp get too high, say over 500° for the first few cooks.[p]Welcome, Kent
