Wife wants to have Chicken & Steak Kabobs this weekend and was wondering if anyone had a good method to use.? My initial thoughts are to cook them on a raised grid, direct @ 375, turn every 5-6 minutes for an even cook. [p]Am I on to something or am I completely off-base..??[p]Any help provided will be appreciated,

  • Egg-N-Tino,[p]i've done plenty of kabobs, and they're always tasty. i actually jack the heat up a bit more to 450-500ish, and put the grid in the lower position. [p]i like alot of char on my kabobs, especially my pork kabobs for greek "souvlaki" marinated in lots of lemon juice, olive oil, oregano, s&p, and garlic.[p]i just throw down the kabob, and i let it cook about 2-3 each side. all meats, depending on cube size, will cook very quickly, so that's why i like high heat and low grid to maximize the char on the meat and veggies.[p]if i'm doing shrimp kabobs, i go even higher in temp...around 650-700, b/c the shirmp will cook in about 1 minute per side. any lower temp than that, and you won't get that nice browning or carmelization...
  • KaiserSoze,

Thank for the advice. Yes, I have done plenty of Kabobs myself in the past, but that was on my now retired Weber kettle. I like the higher temperature as the char is one of the best parts and will go with it for this cook.[p]Thanx again,

    <p />Egg-N-Tino,
these were last Saturday night's dinner - before egging them of course! They were chunks of New York strips marinated in Soy Vey brand Veri Veri Teriyaki. I egged them for 5 minutes on two sides at 450. They were very good!

  • Kabobs are one of several reasons I wish I could buy a rectangular smoker/grill made out of BGE material...

    McGuire,
??? You could put several 18" long skewers on a large BGE for instance - how long do you want your Kabobs?

  • It's not a question of how long, but how many...

    McGuire,
If people claim they can get 8 to 12 racks of babybacks on a large then how many kabobs you planning to cook at one time?
