Grill Cleaning
GirlyEgg
Posts: 622
About a month back, someone posted a discussion about cleaning the grill grate on their egg. They said that they used an upside down garbage can lid... but I can't remember what they used to soak it, and I can't find it in the archives... anyone remember?[p]p.s. Good to be back from Y-town (go Penguins! They definitely showed "game" against the Buckeyes!) and eggin' again!

GirlyEgg,
I did not see it posted recently, but in the past I have seen them post to use Dawn Power Disolver. You can also put it in a plastic trash bag and spray with regular oven cleaner and just let it sit overnight then rinse well. Hope this helps,
Tom

GirlyEgg,
Easy off makes an oven cleaner that's also made for grills. It works great if it's really bad! Otherwise, I soak mine in Dawn dish detergent for about 30 mins and it cleans right up!![p]Hope this helps!

<p />GirlyEgg,

It was I who posted that hint. You can buy replacement garbage can lids at many hardware stores like for $3

GirlyEgg,[p]An easy way to clean the grills...is to run the egg up to 600+ deg and have all of your grates in it..and let it run for an hour or so...[p]that is how a self cleaning oven works..and it works well on an egg...[p]Oh..that is what I use the very small lump for..

RRP,[p]That Dawn is just the best for cleaning grids. I have used it many times

GirlyEgg, I use my Weber Genesis Gold Series to clean my grill grates. I need to get some cost benefit from what I paid for that sucker. It does a good job in cleaning my grates.
