Brisket=Corned Beef?

Ahhh Friday. The only thing weighing on my mind for the next few days is what to cook on my egg.
Question. Is corned beef the same as the brisket everyone talks about? I have been to Albertsons, our local grocery store, and the only brisket I see is prepackged with a spice packet and they suggest boiling it. This can be the same piece of meat everyone raves about? Can someone clear it up for me?
My first butt last weekend came out better than I ever hoped for. I'm going to eat the last bit while waiting for an answer...
Thanks

Wardster,
Corned beef is brisket thats been brined for quite a long time. It's pretty good on the Egg but not the same as BBQ Brisket.

Wardster,[p]Corned beef has been brined/marinated/cured, a regular brisket has not. The Alberton's near me do not carry regular brisket, but the butcher will special order them for me. The ones I get are called packers cut brisket, I think. Anyway, it's a whole brisket with the fat cap trimmed to about 1/4 inch. [p]Albertson's is also the only place I can find that sells golden trout. If you like regular trout, you should try the golden ones some time.[p]Hope this helps,
Kevin

Wardster,[p]I wondered that when I first came to the forum. No, its just a plain brisket without being corned.
