Broke my "egg cherry" tonight

ok, so i got my bge up and running tonight and cooked on one for the first time ever. i'm in love. this is the greatest thing i've ever cooked on. ever.[p]did a favor for a friend of mine this week and he knew i had just gotten a bge so as a thank you for the favor he gave me a 2.5lb prime filet. it was beautiful. I did a marinade of olive oil with some garlic powder and cracked pepper and a little soy sauce. wrapped that in saran wrap for about 12 hours. [p]sliced up portabello mushrooms and yellow squash. no potatoes. thought i had a 5lb bag, but alas.....[p]anyway, i get the egg humming at 275 and put the filet in a roasting pan with the veggies at the bottom of the pan. roasted it slow and low for about an hour and a half and got the internal temp up to about 130. pulled it off, let it sit for 10 minutes while i cranked the egg up to 550. sprinkled some kosher salt (who knew?) on this gorgeous piece of steak and seared it all around till the color was right. [p]the result was the most perfect steak I've ever had in my life. the fact that the quality of the meat was about as good as you'll find at retail didn't hurt, but the perfect texture, jucyness (sp?) and flavor of this steak was all due to the bge. [p]i have the rest of the week planned out already, can't wait. [p]had a little trouble keeping it at 275 (varied from 255/260 t 295/300) but other than that it was perfect.
