I use guava wood from guava greg. Im not a big wood person, and I love it. Everyone who eats it can't believe the flavor.

HungryMan, It's even better if you smoke the pork with it. I haven't tried eating it yet, but just might the way you're talking about it!! LOL

I have to agree. I really like the guava. I'm not a wood person either, but the guava has converted me. I'm going to try some of the other 'flavor' Greg sells as well.[p]Gwen

atx,[p]I put a 3 or 4 chunks of oak (that came out of my neighbors yard a few months ago) and 3 or 4 chunks of hickory. [p]I have some fresh pecan from a neighbors that I'm giving a few months to dry out. Looking forward to giving that a try. [p]I used some guava on some chicken and also on some quail a few months ago. Sure has a great smell and taste. [p]Good luck with your cook![p]Bubba T

Apple wood all the way. for long smokes, I find Oak to harsh. Hickory is OK too, but I like Apple[p]
