JD McGee,[p]What is the total to get one of these?[p]Congratulations and welcome.[p]Be very careful on your first cooks not to take the temp too much over 450°. It seems to be important to let the adheasive on the gaskets and or the gaskets 'season' in.[p]Some gaskets seem to be a problem and others don't and right now no one seems to know but there is a lot of speculation.[p]Kent

JD McGee,[p]A great price for what you're getting. Bring a box or two to stash the fire pot, ring, daisy wheel etc while taking the Egg home. It'll make it lighter, and prevent loose items from banging around.[p]Pizza isn't all that hard, but you might want to try something that can cook at a little lower temperature till you get the hang of temperature control. I had one fire that surprised me by climbing from 450 to 700+ in the minute it took me to walk 25 feet to the kitchen table and back to the Egg. Be sure to have some welding gloves, or other protection for those time when the Egg is roaring hot.[p]happy future eggin'

Welcome JD, I'm new to egging myself, and I love it. I just did my first pizza last night from Chef Arnoldi's recipe out of the BGE Recipe Book that's on-line, there's so many great recipes to try it's overwhelming. The pizza turned out great, I made two that were about 10" each and cooked one after the other, using a plate setter with the pizza stone on top. I threw the crust ingredients in my bread machine, so that part was easy. Also just finished buttermilk biscuits, and they were the fluffiest and tastiest ever. Guess you can tell I'm a real convert. Enjoy your new toy.

That's a really great deal! Good for you! Pizza Perfection for your first cook is attainable...but certainly worth the try! When we did pizzas for the first time we did a bunch of small ones until we got the hang of things....[p]We got our ready to go dough from the bakery section of our local Publix...rolled out...threw the sauce, cheese and goodies on top and started experimenting...Kids really love their own personal pizzas on the BGE....[p]If you're brand new to "The BGE Cult" do yourself a huge favor and read WessB's site...and the nakedwhiz.com site...both from start to finish...and you will be ready to kick some (boston)butt right from the get-go!..This requires a little bit of work and study! But if you do this you'll be glad you did![p]Best of luck![p]Ed McLean

JD McGee,
You got such a good deal! I told them they were nuts to include the egg mate shelves. LOL Next year I'm forbidding them from including them. Gotta give you some incentive to go support our dealers.[p]Gwen

gdenby,
That's true, it can get hot fast. And altho I didn't do this, cuz I didn't know I was supposed to, you're not supposed to go over 400 or so your first few cooks.[p]You can do killer meatloaf, hamburgers, ribs, etc., at the lower temps for your first few cooks. You're going to get lots of good ideas at the eggfest, so you can hold off on the pizza for a while I think to break that baby in.[p]Gwen
