Got my 1st Egg
Thanks to everyone that helped me in the forums in the last week, I had my egg delivered this morning. I got a medium egg for $455 (it was a demo) with no accessories. [p]I am going to make a table starting tonight from the plans on the naked whiz. I will send out some pics when I am finished.[p]If you have any tips on getting started with the egg please let me know.

Fred Bedoink,[p]If you've already found the Whiz's site, read thru it carefully. There is a ton of good info there. [p]I found for my first cooks that I had to unlearn habits and practices I had accquired from grills, like, don't open the top all the time to baste the food. [p]I think pork steaks are really easy to do. They can be cooked nicely from 300 to 500 degrees, so one can get used to how a fire develops. They are easy to flip, so if you're cooking them direct, they can be arranged to avoid hot spots and flare ups.[p]Chicken parts and burgers are also good for starters. [p]Before getting into longer cooks, learn to sneak up on the desired temperature. Getting a stable fire at the right temperature will make cooking on the Egg really easy.[p]Enjoy,

Fred Bedoink,
take your time and start simple. [p][p]Temperature control is easy to do if you use the daisy wheel on top and you set the bottom vent and leave it. [p][p]I also found out it takes a while for BGE to cool down. a lot longer than a gasser or Weber.
