"Clean Out the Freezer" Week

Howdy All,[p] Despite a strong urge to jump into some of the more politically charged discussions, I've decided to stick to BBQ. So, if you think it to soon to get back to cookin', please don't accuse me of being insensitive to current events for posting this message . . .[p]Anyhoo, due to the impending arrival of a new roommate, the inability of late to close the door on the freezer with just my stuff in there, and the knowledge that some friends just moved into a house in which they found pork chops from 1993 left as gifts from the previous owners in the freezer downstairs, I declared last week to be "Clean Out the Freezer" Week -- and that spilled over into this week a bit. So far, I've cooked up a 6 pound package of "Asian-style" beef ribs, a 5 pound package of chicken breasts (Tandoori style), about two dozen bratwursts (over cherry wood) and still have a flank steak, a few package of chicken thighs and two packages of breast tenders to go. Sooner or later, I'll eventually have to get the vegetables![p]Anyone else with a freezer glut want to join in?[p]MikeO

MikeO,[p]If you don't eat, you get weak. If you're gonna eat, you might as well eat GOOD FOOD.[p]This is no time to get weak![p]Ahhh 1993, it was a good year...but not for pork chops!!!!!!!

MikeO,
I've got 2 freezers. Upstairs is full of Lean Cuisine's, frozen pizza and Birdseye broccoli that my wife keeps buying but never serves (thank God), but downstairs is all mine. Buy one get one free last week on chicken thighs, porterhouse steaks and pork loin, so that fills up the top shelf. The bottom shelf has to go first though, cause that stuff's been there longer, which includes 2 - 1/2 racks of beef ribs (the meaty 8" long puppies), a brisket, a pork shoulder, a duck and a couple of Hillshire Farms Polska Kielbasa's. Then there's the stuff that has to go straight to the dump, 2 quarts of smoked turkey soup from Thanksgiving '99, a bag of bluefish filets that I didn't know what to do with last summer and a couple of buy one get one free chicken breasts dated sometime in October of 2000.

MikeO,
Continuing our day-to-day activities, both work and play, is the surest way to tell the world that we are strong and not moved from our life and values. Along that note, I'll add that I just checked the plans for cooking for the next few days and found thick loin chops and BJ's three-pack ribs for the weekend. Regards

MikeO,
Today I began restocking! I visited Costco and grabbed a bunch of filet mignons to seal and freeze. And a massive salmon filet. Was gonna get some babybacks, but they are currently $3.99/lb. Got spares for half the price.[p]I'll be cooking a whole chicken up the street here. Let's put a good kind of smoke in the air.
