Eggspert Advice Needed!!
I am cooking my first butt tonight. I am ok with everything except for this. I offered to cook one for a friend at the same time and told him what to buy. He brought me two Hormel boneless butts that way just shy of 4 lbs each. What I am wondering is how i should arrange them on the Egg, or will it matter. Also I dont realy want to get up in the middle of the night to see if his is done. I am thinking it will cook faster than my 7.5 lbs bone in. Should I place the meat probe in the smaller one and still cook them to around 195?[p]Meats going on around 10:00 tonight, cant wait to wake up and smell it.[p]

JerryS,[p]Once solution is that you could take his two and some butcher twine and tie them together. They would then cook more like a single 8 pounder.[p]Otherwise his will be done a few hours ahead of yours.

JerryS,[p]You could add them when you do your 2AM or 3AM check on your butt.[p]Check the label on his butts to see if they are enhanced. It's too late to do anything about it now, and he may not notice it anyway, but just in case they come out with an "off" texture, at least you can explain why.[p]~thirdeye~

thirdeye, I* like that approach. Add them right before he's ready to call it a night. Then check the temp first thing in the AM. They probably be close to ready. Then wrap in foil and wait for the other to finish.

thirdeye,[p]I took your adive, put my Butt on at 9:00 will wait about two hours than put the boneless ones one. I read the package, it said something about the juices being better due to some special liquied it is based in. Anyways as long as mine turns out good!!!! The guy from work will eat anything.[p]JS

JerryS,[p] What he bought was 'enhanced' There is a good chance what he will have is pulled ham, but as you said he'll eat anything[p]
