Finally putting on a new SS door and spark screen.
Question, my old one had a caulk seal around it. Do I need it on the new one? If so what kind.
Thanks in advance for the help

Tombo,
Low temps are really difficult without a good edge seal. You can get good RTV high-temp silicon caulk at most anyplace that sells fireplace stoves or inserts.

Tombo,
You don't need really high temp silicone caulk around the bottom vent, so anything you find in the local hardware store that says it is good to 500 degrees will do admirably. I bought some at ACE hardare. But, yes, do replace the caulk and seal up that lower vent.[p]TNW

To anyone who has added or replaced a screen,[p]I recently purchased a small egg that did not come with a screen. I just received the screen in the mail. The current sliding vent seems loose when I move it. Is there a procedure for installing the screen or for tightening up the sliding vent? Do I need to seal it?[p]Thanks.[p]Smoke Diver[p]
