Frozen ribs...

Unknown
edited November -1 in EggHead Forum
Last week I prepared (removed membranes, applied rub, wrapped in celephane and refrigerated) three racks of baby back ribs in the morning, intending to cook them for dinner, but returned home too late, so I popped them in the freezer, thinking I'll cook them the following weekend. My question is, will freezing them for a week (with rub) have a detrimental effect? Also, I'm assuming I need to thaw them in the refrigerator before cooking. Any suggestions how long?
Thanks for the help...
Jerry

Jerry, I usually buy my ribs fresh unfrozen, remove membrane and apply rubs and freeze my access. I get em a dozen at a time. If in a water tight bag..just put em in cold water in the sink for a few hours..They will be fine.

    Jerry,
Did my last 3 slabs that exact way and cooked 1 slab this week and it was fine..that will be the way I do it from now on..pull membrane, rub, vacuum pack, and freeze. Just have to take em out of the freezer the evening before your cook and leave em in the fridge, that way you`re ready to go when its time to cook..just my $.02[p]Wess

  • WessB,
Good to know - I can prepare more than I need, then pull one out of the freezer whenever I want. Thanks for the input.
