My egg cook

Well I cooked some back ribs on a large egg for that class. I used that ceramic deflector with the legs pointing up, a foil pan on top and four slabs of baby backs rolled and skewered. The egg held temp beautifully and really did burn almost no lump. The ribs were first class. I like the way it cooks. The thing operates similar to my Jedmaster in that the vents are barely open. I feel that is what keeps the food so moist, the jed does the same thing. My only complaint is with that hinge. Seems like they should be able to come up with something better than that. There were quite a few new owners there who were really interested in learning to Q. I told them about this place. I'm not converted but I do think Humpty and I bonded.
Thanks for your help. BTW I was on TV wearing a BGE apron.

Also, absolutely true on that hinge! We understand that a vast improvement is in the works.[p]Now, does this mean you will retire that virtual Egg smashing hammer over on Basso's? hehehe[p]K~G

    I had a feeling you and the green thang would get along. As someone who can already Q up a storm, sounds like the BGE was a piece of cake fer ya. Wish I had an opportunity to see you on the tube in that apron! Hope you got pictures. I am with you on the hinge. [p]Thanks for the report!

    drbbq,[p]Its not for everyone, but the egg (or other ceramic cooker) is a great option for many! I like good Q, but didn't want to have to buy a pickup truck to haul my smoker around! Also, I can let it go all night (while I sleep) and do some real slow cooking without having to tend to it.[p]Glad to hear you had a good exprience with the egg![p]Smokey

    My first egg cook and meeting CW in the same week. The sky might be falling. On a unrelated note there's actually a new medium egg in my garage. I'm delivering it to Shannon to be raffled off. I may buy a ticket.
    Think I can cook at the big eggoff?
