Alternative Gasket Material

Given the recent post about melted gaskets, does anyone know if BGE has tried the braided material common for gaskets on wood stoves? I bought a short length as a stop gap measure while waiting for my new band (seems I got stuck with one of the bands that won't allow a complete seal). Anyway, the stuff works great, I got a complete seal and cooked a brisket at 230 for 16 hourse with almost no messing around.[p]David B.

David B., BGE has supposedly been testing the braided Rutland GraphoGlas seal material for the last two years.. I sent them a complete kit to test several units. Nothing heard.
