How to avoid fried gaskets

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
With the talk about fried gaskets, I was wondering if there was a way to avoid them. I usually go out and open my egg 1-2 times before it gets really cool. Occasionally, I hear a faint sound that reminds me of velcro pulling apart. I wonder if this has helped me avoid getting an egg stuck. My gaskets don't look very bad at all, but it made me wonder. Does anyone do any "preventative maintenance" when they are done cooking to avoid this problem?[p]Gene

CGator,[p]My opinion is that the gaskets just need to become a little worn. As they're used, they compress a little, which tightens up the seal, and they get a nice coating of smoke/grease/mop sauce/etc that makes an even better seal. And by that time, the adhesive is really set. [p]gdenby
