Cast Iron Skillet w/ Removable Handel
BBQ Savant
Posts: 22
[p]Target has cast iron skillets with removable handles on sale for $9.99 right now. They also have the stainless steel wing and drumstick racks for $5.99. Pick up one of each last night. The skillets are made in China and not the same quality as Lodge but appear good enough. I plan to use mine for drip pan, creating indirect heat, and as a skillet.

BBQ Savant,
one benefit you may not realize...[p]my number 8 skillet (with handle) fits well in the large, and i often sear steaks that way. well, my oven mitt has a nice scorch mark from the handle, which gets super hot. and carrying it into the house is a race against burn-through.[p]...the removable handle would eliminate that.

BBQ Savant,
What part of the store did you find that in? I just went to Target and couldn't find it. -RP
-
AZRP,
They were in the BBQ section. I believe that are being sold under the Thermos brand.
-
BBQ Savant,
The store near here must have been out of them, They only had a couple grills and not much else. -RP

stike,
"...the removable handle would eliminate that."[p]Just as long as the handle does not "remove" as you carry the skillet.
It will happen.

psiman,
I just bought it this morning so have not yet cooded with it but the one @ Target, has a handle that seems quite secure to me. It fits inside the skillet, down the side and under.

psiman,
yeah
that was my first thought when seeing it. i'll stick with my old-fashioned models. but if the thing works (holds on tight), it would be a nice bonus not to have an 800 degree handle.

Rusty Rooster,
Agreed the one from Target seems very secure. The one on the website appears less so. Also the skillet at Target is much deeper than the one on the web.
