Help! My Egg is broken!

Looks like when I open and shut the Egg, it creates a gap at the back towrds the hinge and smoke / heat escape. My brother-in-law and I tries to fix this a few weeks ago, but it doesn't seem to have taken. What are my options? I thought there was a lifetime guarantee, but I could be wrong. Help!
