Has anyone ever Egged breaded shrimp? I'd like to do something like ChefRD's wings, only with shrimp. I'm worried the time to crisp up the breading would cause the shrimp itself to be overcooked.[p]Thanks!

  • MikeInMdsn,
Interesting idea. You might be able to get away with it using panko (Japanese bread crumbs), which stays crispier and browns sooner and more evenly (IMHO) than regular breading. I'd probably dredge the shrimp in egg-wash, roll them in the panko, then do a kebab thing over direct and not for too long. Maybe even butterfly and stuff them?[p]Hank

MikeInMdsn,[p]I don't think it will work. I think the trick to the Chef RD wings is the fat rendering off the wings. Obviously that wont be happening with the shrimp. Maybe a brush with olive oil and a light coating of breadcrumbs would work for a little crunch.

  • Thanks for the replies. My wife is a (mostly) vegetarian. She'll eat shrimp and claims she will eat fish, though I've yet to see it much in our almost two years married. She loves Buffalo Shrimp, so I'd like to come up with a healthier, Egged alternative.
