What a day

After the day I just had, I'm treating myself to a mini and a small!!!
The day started at 0100 (GMT) on the 18th, headed to Heathrow Airport,
flew 9.5 hours to Chicago so I could wait 4 hours to find that my connecting flight was one of the 300 the was canceled today due to weather. Finally said what the heck and got a rent a car and started the excursion to the Big D (Des Moines)[p]Well as usual, the route I choose wasn't the most optimal. Interstate 88 hadn't seen much of any snow plows so the traffic was crawling along at a whooping 30 MPH it took me 4 hours to get out of Illinois. After two hours of fighting the blizzard my renter had a flat so I popped on the donut spare and was on my merry way. I didn't see a cleared road until I hit Iowa City and all was good. Pulled into the Big D at 0200 (0800 GMT 19th) for a total of
31 hours of HELL![p]I might as well get a medium too, I deserve it![p]Watch out C~W, there's some competition in town!!!![p]TT

Tanker Tim,[p]Jeez! That's no way for a member of the USAF to be treated...I'm writing my Congressman!
-
Tanker Tim,
After spending nearly 11 years in the NW part of Illinois (Atkinson..just east of Moline). I know what you went through. You'd think because that's a toll road they'd keep it clear! Not Illinois! Chicago gets all the consideration it seems! There should be 2 states there. Chicago and Illinois! Instead, all the revenues go to Chicago!
Hang in there and enjoy your visit![p]Dr. Chicken
-
Kamper,
Won't do no good! He's in Chicago with Mayor Dayley (sp) and all the other hoodulums![p]Dr. Chicken
-
Kamper,
Don't waste you time writing to a politician. Unless the envelope contains lots of money they will just ignore you.
-
JJ, that's for DANG SURE. Yall come on down south. Our politicians are dirty too,, but our roads are passable in spite of them. [p]Of course, if it snows or ices, you wouldn't want to drive on the roads with us. Southerners actually speed up as road conditions deteriorate.
-
Tanker Tim,[p]With men the likes of you in our military services that nothing stops them when on a mission I will sleep better tonight. Hope you do to.[p]Elder Ward
-
King-O-Coals,
Know what you are talking abut. I live in Bama (Heart of Dixie) too.
-
King-O-Coals,[p]Dear bro that is only you flatlanders we hill billies don't have no trouble with less than favorable conditions. We stock up the larder with a 3-6 month supply of food. Then we only go out for wood or fun. [p]Elder Ward
-
Elder Ward, when it gets icy down here,,, people who never drive, get in the car and crash into things. We had a pile-up on the foggy Bay-Way over Mobile Bay a couple of years back that held second place in the world for a short while. Down here, you can be in traffic doing 65 or 70,, run into a hard downpour,, and everybody speeds up to 80 and above. I must be part hillbilly cause when it gets really nasty weatherwise,, I stock up on home intertainment like grain fluids (for internal use), pork, beef, poultry, and charcoal. Then I just sit it out and have fun at home. :^)

Tanker Tim, Yeee Gads man.. I just found you down here. Did you get arrangements made for the "Egg" additions? Char-Coal??[p]The reason ya had such a bad time, ya was on the wrong Interstate ..Its Interstate I-80 :-) [p]Yep..we had a real duzzy of a winter storm move thru 36 hours..Where can I buy you coffee???[p]Cheers..C~W[p]
-
Char-Woody,[p]I just heard on the radio that the Home and Garden show is
at Vet's right now, I wonder if the Egg is there as well?[p]TT
-
Kamper,[p]Thanks for feeling my pain, I'll get a comp day when I get back to England. LOL![p]TT
-
Tanker Tim, That is quite a show..and wish I could see it this year..no chance! Go take a look its worth seeing and you might get lucky..:-)
-
Tanker Tim:[p]You need to fanagle a flight to Dobbins and drive on down to BGE HQ in Atlanta for good pricing on the Mini and Small. Both can fit in one seat for the flight back. T-shirt weather and sunny with blue skies. Safe flying . . .
-
JJ,[p]Bingo! The pols here in the Pan Handle are the best money can buy!
-
Welcome home,Tanker Tim! I'm sure it will be worth the trip. Julie
-
Tanker Tim, Been there, done that, got my t-shirt and retired.
You deserve a medium and a LARGE beer.
yours in the egg--The Colonel
-
Tanker Tim, I can round up about 4 or 5 20 lb bags of lump charcoal. If your around for a few days a short trip to DM is possible. :-)
