Oh yum!!! You are making me hungry!![p]For "real" jerk, you should try using pimento wood. I found a source (it's kinda spendy for what you get, but I think it's worth it).[p]
[ul][li]pimento wood......ya mon![/ul] -
Rick's Tropical Delight,[p]Has Dayton magically transported itself to the Carribean this month?
-
AlaskanC,
Is my math right - is that a bag of chips that's just under 6 inches square . What does it weigh? [p]That would be a pretty pricey treat. [p]But then, me nor most of the other folks I've seen in here mind paying to create delicious dishes (having a flashback to some of the balsamic vinegarette prices heard mentioned last few days). [p]

Bubba_T,
i'm with ya on that... i almost bought some of that bv too.
now i have to get fancy wood too! hahaaa[p]i've been to that site before but i didn't order
-
<p />Rick's Tropical Delight,

I judge my rib cook on how well the meat/skin is breaking up when cooking. You can just tell they are going to turn out awesome when seeing that.[p]Mike

Rick's Tropical Delight,
You ever have the Jamacian steak at Hopps before it closed?[p]What did it taste like to you?[p]I'm thinking pineapple juice, clove, soy, and maybe some allspice. It wasn't spicey hot but it sure tasted good.
-
dhuffjr,
i never made it to that place.....
the best jerk i ever had was from a street cart in negril, jamaica
-
Rick's Tropical Delight,
It wasn't a jerk persay but it did have the word Jamacian in the name :>)
.....and it was good.
-
dhuffjr,
You going to Oklahoma?
If not, I have you covered for Hotlanta.[p]Mike
-
dhuffjr,
Got my curiosity going and Mr. Google found this. Is it like what you had?[p]

Richard,[p]On the same wavelength.......

Car Wash Mike,
Not sure yet. But we will 100% be in Atlanta.[p]She told me to go on my own. There is an LST docked in Evansville that I want to hit on my way to Oklahoma if I go. I'm working on her. I'm thinking Oklahoma needs the full Eggrib treatment.
-
Richard,
Didn't taste too much if any garlic. I found Hops website.
http://www.hopsonline.com/home/openmenu.asp[p]The listed ingredients on the menu are soy, pineapple juice and ginger. I'm sure there are a few extra things in it. Doing a steak like this has been on my to do list for a very long time.
-
Bubba_T,[p]It's very spendy for the amount you get. I got this little box in the mail and I had no idea of what it was - I pulled out this teeny burlap bag and it was like a tourist trinket.
However, it does not take much to add flavor to what you cook, so I guess it is worth it if you really love Jamaican food.
