Stuck DaisyWheel

Unknown
edited November -1 in EggHead Forum
Greetings,[p]I need some help for a friend. I searched, but to no avail. Someone made a post about soaking the daisy wheel for cleaning. They mentioned a liquid soak to give it a really good cleaning to remove the gooey tar. What do you soak it in? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks[p]OctoberGlory

    OctoberGlory,
Trying using a 30% solution of ammonia. Wrap it up air tight overnight than in the morning rinse and scrub.

  • Fireball,[p]Thanks for the info Fireball - I'll pass it along and make note for future reference. This same guy had stalactites hanging inside the top![p]Remember folks - a clean egg is a happy egg![p]OctoberGlory

OctoberGlory,Well in that case, a sandblasting might be in order.....[p]Mop!

  • Mop,[p]Same guy told me when he's done cooking he sticks a nail in between the top and bottom and leaves it there. When I asked why, he told me it was the only way to keep the top from sticking closed. Amazing![p]OctoberGlory

    OctoberGlory,
When the EGG gets to temp the heat loosens up the top and it slides freely. It is not a real problem.

OctoberGlory, the ammonia trick is a good one and it works. I use a large coffee can and all the BGE tops will fit in it inverted. Then put in a couple pints of water and some ammonia and the plastic cap back on the can. You can shake, rattle and roll for a while sloshing the mix and your cap will be relatively clean when you take it out.
    Good luck.
