Hal at HalcoGrill informed me this morning the Mini is anti tank packaged and on its way..yesterday. Good news is I can eat out while fishing this year with my favorite BGE burgers! BTW..made some super good burgers last night worth a repeat. Combo of jalapeno hot cheese, grated onion, garlic salt.
Cheers to ya all,
C~W

Char-Woody,[p]You're gonna love it! ST and I made some burgers on the mini on Saturday. Basically some 80% lean ground beef with kosher salt and black pepper (I used the "pepper encrusted" method...ie - lotsa black pepper). Cooked at about 450-500 flipping only once. ST put some extra sharp cheddar inside his burger, I went the traditional route and simply cheesed the top a minute before taking the burgers off. The one wrinkle to this cook was that we threw in a small amount of pecan pellets during the cook. The results were terrific. The burgers had a slightly smokey taste and were perfectly medium rare juicy.[p]The mini rules,

Cornfed, Thats sounds good too..!! I did this...I took a hunk of hamburger, crumbled it all up nice and loose on a plate..I used a grater, and grated about 1 tablespoon of hot jalapeno cheese, pepperjack would be super also, into the crumbled burger..Then grated about the same amount of onion, 1 to 2 tablespoon, chopped will work also, into the burger, a dash of garlic salt, and squished the entire mess all around untill thoroughly mixed, and shaped it into a nice pattie..and on the grill..The cheese melted perfectly and so dang juicy it almost melted in yer mouth..Vary it with your cheeses or seasonings..unlimited taste changes.[p]I am going to make some design changes to the bands when it arrives. Then duplicate that with the Small later on, and possibly the Large as time permits...No locking mechanism or side support hinges..yet solid and stable.[p]And something new for ribs coming up...![p]Gonna be a exciting year for cooking...Cheerio..C~W[p][p]

    YB,
High in Albuquerque will be about 74 today. Light breeze from the west at about 10mph. If I can, I will duck out of the office, and chase the little white ball.
***Have not christened my new Mini yet. Noticing your spacer collar on the outside of the dome, that obviously creates more room for larger cooks inside. What is it, and what size is it that you're using? By the way, good looking stand. From the picture I printed some time back, your mini sits in that nice rolling table with folding sides, and then there's the Walmart folding bar stool, standing in front of it. I still don't get it. What's with the bar stool and it's relationship to the Mini sitting in the table? Thanks...Steve

YB,[p]My mini setup is far less sophisticated, but has worked well for my first two cooks. The mini sits on the concrete on top of the three BGE ceramic "feet" that came with my Small that I'd never used since the Small is in a nest. Since I have no daisy wheel and no BGE thermometer for the hole drilled in the dome yet, I've simply placed a small amount of tin foil to partially cover the top of the chimney to regulate the amount of airflow coming out and I've simply stuck a thermometer through the tin foil to approximate dome temps.[p]Very basic and simple, but it seems to work.[p]Cornfed

Cornfed,[p]You could move the dome thermometer between Eggs when doing a single Egg cook. Wait until you can get one of the new thermomters from BGE. They work much better than the replacement to the original.[p]Spin

    Big Murth,
The table for the mini stays on the deck, the folding stand goes to all UGA football games"TAILGATE PARTYS" and vacation trips. The spacer is a 3/4" pvc coupling with a fishing cork in it painted black,it does give you a lot more room inside. The weather was great here to today, about the same as yours,i will be at the Masters the rest of the week.[p]Larry

    <p />Cornfed,
I like things simple too, this 1-1/2"x9" ring is simple to do and gives you twice as much area to cook on,mini is a blast.
C~W keeps me on my toes.

    YB,
More questions I guess: What's the setup consist of to double your area? Where'd you get the ring? Where do you find an inexpensive second 9" grid? Appreciate you YB!

    Big Murth,
I bought the extra 9" grid from the Egg store here, it cost $9.00.I got a friend to cut and weld the 1-1/2" stainless steel ring for me.[p]Larry

YB, I hate that enter key...:-)
You could take one of my earlier ideas and convert one of those gas golf carts to a "EggCrate Express Wagon" and do some on the "fairway" hot dogging and make a few sheckles to offset that golf shop expense...Go for it..!!
    I'm kidding ya..! :-)
