Raised Grate on Legs?
Hello all,[p] About ten days ago Old Dave gave me a suggestion on how to do more racks of ribs in my large egg. He posted a picture of a raised grate on adjustable legs. I was thrilled with his response, but now I cannot find any kind of grill grate with legs anywhere. Does anyone know where to get one, or do I have to fabricate it myself? Thanks in advance.....[p]Fudge

Fudge Mountain,[p]These are stackable except the bottom one hangs. Carriage bolts with the heads resting on the lower grate. Easy to lift off with food with my lr gridlifter.

guava greg,
Do you have any problem with food cooking faster or slower because of the different temps at different levels? That looks like a great and pretty simple idea. Gonna try that one, thanks.

guava greg,[p] Thanks alot Greg. I will give that a try. Hope my ribs cook evenly on both levels. I may have to switch them around.

Fudge Mountain,[p]To answer you and Rusty Rooster..I do a little moving sometimes but heat rises with the dome closed it's pretty even...the lowest pan below the BGE grate is hanging there for when I want to put a heat sheild to reduce direct cooking heat. I can lift the grates with the food on them, set on the side, close lid, move them around, put back on. Easier than doing it in place especially wings...I use stainless steel and I made on adjustable. 14 inch grate for upper just fits large egg. Notice the empty spot on top grate of wings for thermometer to clear. Make sure carriage bolt heads aren't too small and squeeze between the grates.[p]Aloha![p]Greg

Rusty Rooster,[p]works great with dome closed. I do some flipping but I don't change the levels they're on unless one is done before the others..
