First piece of Butt
Do you all remember your first piece of butt? I will be losing my virginity tomorrow. I got my butt marinating overnite. [p]Wish me luck eggers. Hope my fire stays going. See you on the other side of the plateau.[p]My butt weights in at 8.5lbs. I am planning a 22-24hr cook @250--Dang thats a long time![p]Thanks for all your post on the site. You all make life a little brighter..........................

nicenjuicy, at 250..try 16 hours or less.
Try not to over cook the verbal embelishment's next time and good luck on the roast.

Char-Woody,[p]My calulation says 21-22 hrs. (2.5*8.5)= 21.25hr[p]Tim

My guess is 18 hours at 250 with no water in the drip pan. Every chunk is different though.
The main thing, is there is an extremely good chance you will be eating some extremely fine food coming up.[p]Enjoy the cook.

Tim M, thats a could be at 220F but at 250F? Mine says (1.75*8.5 @ 250F= 14.875) hours or less..but that is one thing we all can agree on times for butts can vary..Poke a Polder thermometer in at 15 hours and check..or for the full cook with a newbie.

Just pulled the Butt of the BGE. Took 16hrs for the 8.8lb butt. My temp stayed around 250. When I got up this morning the temp was at 200. I adjusted it to 250 again and let it go for a few more hrs. The center temp was at 204 when I pulled it.[p]Can't wait to taste it!! Thanks for all the help.
