Lifting grid
How do you all lift the hot grid out of the smoker. I'd thought about taking a pair of chanel lock pliers and welding tips on them to work like the Green Egg grate lifter, but then I thought I might make 2 "T" handles with a smaller "T" on the other end so you just slide it down between the slats in the grid give it a quarter turn then lift the grid out. I thought the advantage to this would be you could lift a hot grate with food on it if you needed to. Any thoughts or ideas on this.

Mayberry Smoker,[p]If you're going to make an effort to not damage the porcelain cooking grid, remember NOT to leave it in your cooker if you ever let the temps go nuclear for a good cleaning/burning off. I'm not sure if it melts or just flakes off the grid as the metal heats and expands, but it ain't good for your grid.[p]Hey to Andy.

Mayberry Smoker,[p]I use the ash tool.

Mayberry Smoker,[p]I have the heavy cast iron grill/grate which is way too heavy to use the lifter tool or ash tool (bent that the first time out :(). Ran to Home Depot and bought two of the skiniest crowbars I could get, and they work great! Not only are they sturdy but they act as a stand as they poke through when in between the grids to keep it off the egg table.
