WessB,[p]First of all, you just made me panic thinking I'd missed Christmas. I'm thinking of starting to wrap gifts tonight and spend tomorrow on some last minute shopping, but for an instant, I thought I'd slept through it last weekend somehow. Never know...the beers have been a flowin' since I started vacation...[p]Once I regained my correct sense of time and place, however, I wanted to thank you for the post. I'm most likely cooking a ham on Monday, and I'm shopping around for recipes. This one sounds good. I never would have thought to inject pancake syrup into the ham, but why not?[p]Later,

Cornfed,
Larry was tellin me about some "honey ham" kit they bought and tried to pick apart the ingredients, I went with what he said and it was very good...thinkin maybe the syrup keeps it moist because you cant "really" taste it....dont think the others would have known had I not told them..and as I said, I think the glaze would have been crustier had it not had to take the trip in the foil wrap..dunno, but we will definately repeat this cook...Happy Holidas to ya.[p]Wess

WessB,[p]Sounds great. If I can get my hands on a bigger injector like that, I may try this on Sunday.[p]Happy Holidays to Sally and yourself,

WessB,
that looks great and thanks for the recipe on the website.
i chickened out and got a spiral cut ham but i'm still gonna inject it with maple syurp and heat in the egg.[p]so i reckon a 10-12 pound ham would take about 3/4 to 1 cup of syurp then? maybe less? [p]i'm also injecting 6 fatties with maple syrup this weekend. just a touch.

WessB,
that looks great (i also checked it out at your web site) ...what kind of ham did you start with?? ..
-
mad max beyond eggdome,
A whole ham, I believe it was "Smithfield"...Was just whatever Sally picked up at the store, would imagine any precooked ham would do just the same.[p]Wess

Rick's Tropical Delight,
3/4 maybe, but I`m thinkin a cup would be to much...but hey, you can certainly give it a try....When I was discussing this with YB I said "maple syrup" and he said no just plain old pancake syrup, like aunt jemima or similar...I have no idea what difference you will have if you use a true maple syrup..probably would be fine but I went with what he was tellin me....Keep us informed.[p]Wess
