The wife and I cooked up a couple of filets on the egg tonight in the ususal manner of 3/3/9 (she likes them done) at 600*. I remembered seeing several threads a few weeks ago started by my friend Spin pertaining to Ghee. At the time I thought of the Ghee for the steaks I only had a few minutes remaining before dinner but...I had to have some Ghee. That is when I remembered that I always nuke butter for our popcorn in the microwave for about 30-45 seconds to get "clarified butter". I put about 1/4 stick of Land-o-Lakes in a pyrex measuring cup and put it in the microwave on high for 2 minutes. It came out with the solids browned to perfection and settled to the bottom so that I was able to pour off the flavored Ghee or "claified butter" onto our steaks when I brought them in from the egg. The meal was excellent and the Ghee was an excellent addition to enhance our steaks.[p]Just thought I'd share this tidbit for what it is worth with those that find theirself short on time like I did. Your time may vary based on the power of your nuker.[p]
