Big Green Egg Islands
![100_1185.jpg](http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/skyhopsing/100_1185.jpg)
I have come to a point in my life where I need to build or buy an Island for my large. My brother built the standard pressure treated island, but I was wondering if there are any more exotic, (sibling rivalry), ideas for an island. I have seen some that are made from steel frames but can't seem to find any online. Thanks in advance

Mahogany, cedar, redwood, and teak are all attractive, weather resistant woods. Mahogany, cedar, and redwood are used for decking, so can be found at fairly reasonable prices.

Some of the best ideas can be found here...............

Morning cflyinbob,
If you want exotic I'd go with either Ipe or Mangaris. Both known ironwoods from the tropics & are beautiful.
Pricey but for a table the cost wont be too high.
Cheers,

cflyinbob,
Seeing that your in the tropics ya might think stone and brick,....masonry with polished stone top. Water, rot and hurricane proof, you would win over your brother with the table. [p]

cflyinbob,[p]I like it the way it is! Perfect!! But why do you have a garden tool on the egg shelf? Either that's a new way to pull pork or you are doing double duty bbq/garden tool storage...a major faux pas...[p]Aloha,
Greg

cflyinbob,I used some Ipe decking pieces for my table. They dont call it iron wood for nothing, I saw sparks from the wood while using the band saw. Very heavy and dense with beautiful dark veins.
