Help with crust inside dome

I've got a thin "crust" of material inside the dome of my Large EGG. It has started flaking off, sort of like peeling paint on the outside of a house. I can scrape it off with the wooden handle of a wire brush. Some has peeled and the rest (after scraping) just shows a noticeable layer of something attached to the dome. Any ideas what this is, and how best to remove?[p]It's a little annoying to have it flaking off onto the Turkey, Ham, etc. that's cooking in the EGG.[p]Thanks,
Walter

Take a ball of foil and rub it around the dome. That will knock off the loose stuff.

walter, that's the residual cresote from smoke and food grease. Most times it stays intact, but sometimes it will start to flake as your has. Personally I just use a narrow blade putty knife and knock off the loose stuff from time to time.

RRP,
I like a wire brush like the ones bricklayers use. [p]Take the grill out before scraping off the creosote, and fire up empty before cooking again.[p]Ken

dhuffjr,
Thanks. Found a new use for the foil I use to cover the tri-tip, chicken, etc. after it comes off the EGG

BlueSmoke,
Thanks. Hopefully most got sifted out the bottom when I scraped the dome then stirred the coals.
