WessB, I have a Willie's Chicken Sitter. It will hold a can of beer, spices, etc. and works very well. They can be found at the barbecue store and other places . HTH

    WessB,
I have a poultry sitter; can't think of the brand at the moment. It's metal; looks like the Eiffel Tower, and I put a small can of beer in it. Works great, but it's a bugger to clean. I've seen the pix of Willie's chicken sitter, ceramic with a hollow interior. IMHO, that looks like a good one. The convenience of a built-in receptacle for the beer, but much easier to clean than the wire grid.
    Cheers,
    Gretl

  • ChefRD, I also bought Willie's sitters for cornish hens and they are just minatures of the others. Those come two to a box and the two cost about the same as one big one for a chicken. Ease of clean up is great and as for the argument that an alumium can can just be pitched doesn't mean much once or twice after you have knocked over a beer butt and all the liquid pours down the side onto the lump and between the fire ring and outer walls - yuckkkk! ^oo^~

Gretl, I use the same metal chicken sitter you have.It seems to make cleanup a lot easier if you coat it with cooking oil before you put your chicken on it.This also applies to rib and v-racks,and also grids.I use a pump up spray bottle with olive oil or Pam with olive oil. This should help with cleanup and save you a little elbow grease.

one feral kat, my sentiments exactly. I just put mine in the dishwasher and it is cleaned up and ready to go again.
