I believe I am going to purchase a small for my father. Two questions that I think have been asked before but I was not sure of the answer.[p]1. Does the small now come with a daisy wheel top or must I purchase that separately?[p]Forgive me father, for I know now what I do, but I am unhappy with the cover for my large. It is very tight and difficult enough to put on that I have banished the thing to the bottom of one of the many bins of junk I am accumulating. Instead, I just leave the egg out. My dad is something of a neatnik. On the other hand, he is a practiced cheap sob so he will never purchase the thing for himself.[p]Is it likely that he would enjoy a cover? How many folks use a cover with the small? [p]Thanks in advance for the input

hounddog, sorry, but unless BGE has changed the only top you get is the ceramic top. Daisy,Slider, and Combo are all option's accessories.
I have heard that the soft cover top's are a pain..I have one (BGE) for my small and it fits nice over the standard band. I just get off brand stuff in stores that fit my large mainly for protection than looks. I just recently purchased a nice "firepit" black cover with a rope loop on the bottom that you can tighten if you wish. 8 or 9 buck's..nice heavy vinyl with cloth backing.
That's a nice fathers day present. I am sure he will enjoy.
    Cheers..

  • hounddog,[p] I have the cover for the small and it fits well over the small BGE itself. However, it doesn't fit well if you put the little guy in a nest. Have to really stretch the cover over the legs . . . Funny, I have a round cover for my large and it seems to fit fine when I use it. However, my large resides in a table most of the year so I use one of the rectangular covers most of the time. See my profile for a picture of the table w/cover.[p]MikeO

    hounddog,
I have a large and a small, both are in tables and both have covers. The first cover I had for the large was great except that after two years it had shrunk to the point that it was difficult to get it on. A new cover solved that problem. The cover I have for the small was probably designed for a medium so there is not the tight-fitting problem.[p]My personal opinion on covers in general is that they help protect the Egg and its accessories fron the weather, keeping them in better condition for a longer time. Also I don't have to worry about whether my electric starter and pizza stone have been exposed to the rain.
