Maverick ET-73 Smoker Alert

I have been thinking about purchasing a Maverick Et-73 Smoker Alert. I was planning on purchasing one in the next day or two, so that I will have it for the Thanksgiving Bird and I am also planning on doing a Prime Rib for Christmas.

I stumbled upon a couple of reviews by individual consumers that complained about the probe wires shorting out due to moisture. Has anybody had this problem? I have seen somewhere in a picture of someone's "Set Up" where they wrapped the probe wires in Tin foil, which may solve the forementioned problem. I do find it odd that the Maverick web site claims that the Transmitter is rain resistent, but then people have problem with moisture.

Any advise would be helpful.
