ULTRA high temp gasket

i just finished instaling an ultra high temp & glue - currently curing for the next 2 days.
i placed a special size order with Cotronics for the following:
Thermeez 397 Ceramic gasket 1/8" thick good for 1500F
glued on with
Resbond 907GF good for 2350F
my method: have a very clean edge, then measured out the length of gasket needed & cut off with cissors 1" more.
spread the putty like glue (water based) & pressing it into the gasket with my finger the whole lenth.
now putting a small bead of the same putty like glue on the BGE rim then pressing the gasket on top of that.
closed the lid & cleaned off any residue with a damp paper towel. Repeated the process for the dome surface.
Now i am leaving the dome open for the glue to cure for 2 days
note: i did not leave the dome closed during curing as i was concerned about the gasket shifting when i closed the dome
this should be my last gasket replacement ever.

Good luck!
I got the same gasket material and also the Resbond, but I couldn't get the Resbond to work. Maybe I got a bad batch, but it was like cement, and it didn't seem to want to hold the gasket to the egg. Didn't think of putting it right on the gasket first.
I used a high temp gasket sealer to adhere the Cotronics gasket to the egg, and so far so good! -
I would love to see some pics of this gasket. I am a new egg owner and can't believe they sell it with felt gaskets. I am on my 3rd gasket with less than 20 uses. Pretty poor design.

3rd Gasket in 20 cooks.. There has to be something else wrong there.

I am due for my 3rd gasket in about 1 month of use on a brand new XL. The first one fell off, the second one is falling off. After the first one I went back to my dealer and they seemed to think I screwed something up and not knowing any better I agreed. Then, a week and two turkeys, some hot wings and a few burgers later the second gasket came off. I called BGE and they indicated they had experienced some problems and agreed to send me a new gasket at no charge. They were great to deal with. I called the local dealer and then they admitted they had problems as well. Odd they failed to mention it after the first gasket. Anyway, everyone claims the issue is resolved and I will be happy with the new gasket - we will see. Sure is a pain to deal with so far.

Hey there Chef Arnoldi -- have had my Egg for a few months and my gasket is already long gone. I am looking into replacements and am probably going to order the same Thermeez/Resbond combo that you posted here 4 years ago. Before I pull the trigger, can I ask how your "last gasket replacement ever" has held up?
