valentine's day question
char buddy
Posts: 562
Since I got my egg at the fest last spring, my family has been going out to dinner less and less. Not a problem, just a result.[p]Valentine's day is a big deal for us - an important anniversary - and it usually means going out to a real good restaurant. [p]This year there was a question whether we'd go out or stay in and egg. My wife made the call on this and she decided to stay and have me egg a meal.[p]I just thought I'd ask other folks out there, what their valentine's day will be like and for those folks who will be egging for their valentine, what are they gonna make and what would they recommend? char buddy,[p]A nice compliment and vote of confidence from your wife. [p]Some flowers, candles, a nice wine, and your very best effort at cooking her very favorite meal is all that I can recommend.[p]Spin

char buddy ,
I like Spin's recommendation for flowers and candlelight. Last year I made JJ's Steak Au Poivre. It just doesn't get any better than that, IMHO.

char buddy ,
My sweetheart's favorite is prime rib with a side order of me!

Spin,
We have candlelit dinners most nights and a nice bottle of wine, so for me the flowers would be really special, and for the meal, I'd like him to cook Houndog's lobster or a filet mignon. Julie

J Appledog,[p]Now were talkin', that would be the way to go. A little salad on the side with some fresh ground pepper. Don't forget about the fondue set with with strawberries dipped in melted chocolate, good stuff.[p]Dec

Dec, I saw some chocolate body paint at the gourmet store yesterday. Forget the strawberries!

J Appledog,[p]That explains the shortage of ice cream toppings at Albertsons. Be careful, you may give some of these guy's a heart attack. We won't name names to protect the innocent. OOP's, I mean the guilty.
Plan on doing a salmon recipe from Smoke & Spice tonight. Calls for some brown sugar and dill I believe.[p]Have great weekend,[p]Dec
