Egged For Breakfast

This was a good morning to fire up the egg. To start things off, the egg frozen shut as usual these days. I slipped in a fire starter through the bottom vent and waited for the egg to thaw. The egg did thaw, but the lump did not start. My egg was in dire need of ash removal after the brisket that I made last weekend. I removed the lump and turbo grate and reset everything after a good cleaning.[p]The egg finally took off and I was in business. I put on a pound and a half of breakfast link sausage for 10/10/5/5 at around 300. There was still a good chunk of red oak and hickory left from the brisket, so the sausage had a wonderful smoke flavor. The rest of the meal consisted of Buckwheat Pancakes cooked in a cast iron skillet and a strong pot of Costa Rican Coffee. My five-year-old son was in charge of the pancakes and pretty much cooked them all by himself, I poured the batter and he flipped the pancakes.[p]I ended up also frying an egg for me. [p]Now that was a breakfast.
