Have a 4.5 lb rib roast that I want to really impress friends with. Any suggestions on methods/temperatures/smoke or no smoke? Greatly appreciated.

Thy Mad Max's recipe at the link. It's good!

  • Rib roast...one of my favorites....and there are a lot of people here on the forum that have great ideas....I cook them regularly....and always cook indirect....with dome temps running at 350 - 375....and I like oak chunks / chips....[p]Before cooking I like to whip up a "paste" of sorts....using the food processor.....two big handfuls of peeled garlic cloves....black pepper....sea salt....Extra Virgin Olive Oil....and maybe even a big dash of your favorite BBQ rub......A few pulses and you have a nice paste to slater on that beast.....[p]I'm looking for rare in the middle....and that means 140 internal middle temp....and that gives you more done towards the ends....and plenty of cuts for everyone's liking...[p]Good luck...[p]Ed McLean....eddiemac

  • neweggerart,
many resturantes use slo and lo....season it well and go indirect for 6 8 hrs at around 200 or less.....go for the 125-130 intenal...
