Large of Medium BGE

Large or medium BGE? The size and weight of the medium work best for me but will I regret buying a medium over a large egg?

  • David D,
My dealer tried to sell me a medium, but for only a few dollars more you can get a large. Since I would have a hard time picking up either one, I selected a large. Of course I then had to get a small to go with it later. If you get the nest you can roll the large around very easy.

  • David D,
Go for the large. I don't understand why they even make a medium - the small yes but the medium is beyond me.[p]Unless of course the size and weight of the medium works best for you, then go for the medium. But you might want to consider the large.[p]You are welcome.[p]PS get the large.

    David D,
Get the large. This is a no-brainer! Way more grid area on the large. For instance, you can put full racks of ribs, without cutting, and a 25# turkey on the large, which you can't do on the medium......

  • David D,[p]If you are thinking of having to lift the Egg for transporting the Medium is best. I can't lift my large by myself, I could get a medium in my car though.[p]-My 2¢[p]Smitty

    David D,
    Large - PERIOD
and then save your pennies and dimes for a small BGE to achieve the perfect combo made for man...other than a good woman and a loving dog!

  • David D,
Nobody here can tell you which is best for you. You have to figure that out yourself.
First, decide how you will be using it.[p]At 95 pounds the medium isn’t a light weight, but it would be a far sight easier to transport than the large at 140 pounds.[p]If you are cooking for more than two or three, at 262 square inches the large has 48% more area than the medium at 177 square inches. If you factor out the grate area blocked by the fire ring it works out closer to 56% more area.[p]Even if you are only cooking for a very few, do you have any friends you might want to invite over? It is much easier to cook less than capacity than more.[p]Another consideration:
If you search this forum, I’ll bet you find a lot more people who bought the medium and wished they had bought the large than the other way around. [p]Mike
