Last Nights Pork Burgers

Tried something a little different last night. Instead of using beef for burgers as I had planned, the local store had some ground pork on sale that looked nice, so it became the dinner plan instead of beef burgers.[p]I took two pounds of ground pork, added about 2 tablespoons of Worst.... sauce, salt, pepper, about a half teaspoon of cayenne, two tablespoons of horseradish, a tablespoon of garlic, and about 6-8 green onions minced up. I made 5 burgers out of this and grilled them at 350 about 6-7 minutes a side. During the last minute or so I added white cheddar cheese and then added blue cheese to them after that. They were awesome. The horseradish and cayenne gave it a little whang and the blue cheese added a nice touch also. Kind of a takeoff on my favorite blackened blue burgers, think these may be keepers for me.[p]Ribs planned for the weekend, no party or anything, just the family. Looking forward to that. Hope everyone has a great weekend.[p]Troy

Nature Boy,[p]Mid morning stomach growls, thats funny. Im still trying to jump start the heart with some coffee but you got an hour jump on me by being out east. There's one of those burgers leftover in the fridge, looking forward to a nick pork burger for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor and texture of the pork. Have a great day and weekend.[p]Troy
  • Nature Boy and Sprinter, The Illinois Pork Producers Association have been endorsing meat packers who specifically offer ground pork burgers. In our locale at any major civic event you'll find the IPP grilling trailer. Since I know you're here in IL also Sprinter you might check around. I buy them in 5# tubes. Ymmmmm!

one feral kat,[p]Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep an eye out. Never seen ground pork in anything other than the shrink wrap packages like ground beef. I'd like to be able to buy it in the large 5# tubes but haven't seen it yet.[p]Troy

    sprinter, your right.
P'burgers are a delight. And if you ever want a walk thru heaven, try plain ground pork patties, grilled and then slip on a half bun, put a spread of Mrs Dogs disappearing mustard on it, add the top bun, and take a bite.
No cheese, nothing but pure flavor. You will hear music in the distance...
I like your version too and gonna try it. Sound delicious.
