jhuskers, In a large believe it's around 30 to 40 lbs. I've seen posts with pictures of 4 butts using a raised grid and 2 butts on each level.

I did four 8 pounders in my large without any problem. John at BGE said he did 8 butts using the triple grid setup. -RP

I cooked 38 pounds (4 butts) once. They were touching when the cook started, but within the first two hours they'd shrunk enough that there was plenty of space between them.[p]Ken

this was 2 butts and 2 briskets all about 8 pounds each. i dont think it would of fit if the butts were not boneless as they needed to be shaped by hand to close the dome. its the most i ever did, 12 hours for the briskets and 14 for the butts for this cook. as the cook progressed, the meat shrunk resulting in more airflow and a bigger fire which made the cook more difficult than smaller amounts of meat. i was closing the vents down every half hour to keep the fire in check. i wouldnt cook more than 4 butts this size at one time

jhuskers, My biggest cook on my large has been 32lbs. This was a 15lb brisket on bottom with 1lb bacon on top. On top of that was 2 8lb butts. Had to stuff it all under the dome, but cooked just fine.
The brisket was pulled off and rested after 13hrs, one of the butts after 14 and the other almost 15.[p]Good luck,
