When doing a low and slow do most of ya'll use a platesetter or not. The reason I ask is that I am putting a secound grid on my large and without the ps the whole setup is much lower and it would give a lot more room on top. Thanks in advance! Eggers are the greatest!

    Charles in SC,
I use the platesetter with the legs turned up and a drip pan set between them.

Charles in SC,[p]I have had the same problem and found that if you remove the top ring on your fire box you lose a little "lump space" but gain a lot more clearance on the top rack. I don't know if this is permitted, it probably causes one to develop other bad tendancies, but it works for me.[p]The set-up is to remove the ring, put the platesetter on legs up and the grate on. Load with meat and then put on the upper grate (after moving all the meat on the lower grate because the legs need to be where the meat was!) and load upper grate. Any low and slow (IMHO) requires a platesetter or substitute.[p]Hope this helps.[p]BillT

Platesetter, legs up with drip pan. Are you going to Maggie Valley, Charles? We'll be there. Hope to catch up with you soon.[p]Jim
