My angst of which cooker to get is over. Like many I didn't want to pay big bucks for a foofoo French pot to ruin it. I found this dandy pot at Target for 39.99. Of course it has the admonition not to use it on a camp fire which I didn't....I used it on the Egg.[p]The cook is Adobo Chicken as my brother in law told me how to make it. I'll be playing around with the recipe to come up with what we'll cook in Atlanta. I used chicken thighs this time. Angela didn't appreciate the bones from the chicken which I thought probably add to the flavor. I think next time I'll try boneless skinless thighs and see how it works out. The rice is Jasmine rice cooked in a rice cooker and left uncovered in the fridge overnight so that it dries out.....so you can add a little water to it to moisten it back up again. It is salted, and added to a wok in which you put in diced garlic that is cooked but not browned. I think the rice tastes kinda like popcorn. It is really good.[p]I'm still up for making lumpia if LawnRanger comes up to deep fry it on the Egg. LOL[p]Dennis[p]adobochickengoeson.jpg

  • dhuffjr,
Looks & Sounds like you make a good decision...I did a bit of time in the P.I...so would be interested in your recipe for lumpia if its handy....good luck....

  • dhuffjr,[p] Congrats! Looks like a perfect pot for the BGE. I have a slightly larger Lafont round cooker and have not yet been willing to use it for smoking / wood-fired cooking, etc. I did recently get a Dansk enamled-steel paella pan on eBay, did some paella, blackened it up pretty thoroughly, but it cleaned up very nicely.
I hope we continue to see lots of great baked bean and other casserole dishes posted here which take full advantage of lump and wood cooks in the BGE. [p]Regards,

    Tom B (EggSport),
The wife raved about it. She often eats dinner at her sisters after work and the brother-in-law cooks a lot. She said she could taste the smoke in it (a good thing). [p]It sure was tasty. One thing I noticed is cooking in pots like this takes longer than on the stove. It took close to an hour to come to a boil. I put the platesetter on right before the pot so that might have been a factor.

  • dhuffjr,[p] Sounds darn good! I'm headed for Target to check it out.[p]Tom B (EggSport)
