Raised Grid-Purpose

edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
Hey in two weeks i will be cooking pork chops for about 30 people. Questtion is I've seen the raised grid and homemade raised grid, but is the sole purpose to create more cooking space? It would seem the raised grid would have a different temperature than the lower base grid, is the logical thinking?? Let me know - I plan to use a homemade raised grid (using stove bolts) to accommodate the cooking of more pork chops at one time. Let me know.
See ya all at the Eggfest, cannot wait.

  • beginnerBob,
The raised grid can increase your cooking space, but cooking on the raised grid also means that the food is closer to the hot ceramic and this will receive more of the radiant heat from the dome. This should result in more even cooking. The temps will be different at the two levels, so you should keep an eye on the food to see how they are coming along until you determine how it works for you.[p]TNW
